Merrick Garland supports the request for a swift trial for Trump.
The New York Attorney General’s Office released a new video on Friday showing Mr. Trump displaying a pouting and petulant demeanor during his deposition tapes.
The ex-president is currently facing a lawsuit from State Attorney General Letitia James, who claims that he purposely exaggerated the worth of his properties and those of others on official documents in order to obtain loans, ultimately deceiving banks and insurance companies.
During the seven-hour questioning session in April, Mr. Trump is observed with his arms folded and a frowning expression as his demeanor shifts from calm to irritated.
“I believe that if I hadn’t managed the situation with North Korea, there could have been a nuclear holocaust,” stated the ex-president during his interview. “Furthermore, I think that if I hadn’t been elected, there could have been a nuclear war. And currently, I believe there is a possibility of a nuclear war, to be honest.”
In the past, Mr. Trump has stated that Ms. James’ lawsuit against him, filed in September 2022, is a targeted attack driven by politics. A decision is anticipated by the conclusion of January.
The ex-president made an appearance to rally for votes in New Hampshire before the upcoming primary election.
In recently published deposition footage, Trump seems dissatisfied.
Last Friday, the New York Attorney General’s Office made public the deposition recordings of Mr. Trump, which were recorded in April. In the videos, Mr. Trump claims that he prevented a “nuclear holocaust” with North Korea during his presidency.
Below is a portion of the seven-hour video.

President Trump cautions the Supreme Court about potential disorder and turmoil.
Alex Woodward writes:
The Supreme Court will listen to arguments in the coming month to determine if Mr. Trump is qualified for the presidency according to Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. This section prohibits individuals who have taken an oath to uphold the Constitution and have participated in insurrection or rebellion from holding a government position.
In the recent ruling by the Colorado Supreme Court, it was determined that his actions on January 6 during the US Capitol attack were considered to be active, intentional, and direct involvement in the insurrection.
The case of Trump v Anderson was taken to the Supreme Court, along with numerous other challenges from voters and state officials, regarding Mr. Trump’s eligibility under the 14th Amendment. A ruling from the Supreme Court could have significant ramifications for Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign, as he faces criminal cases and legal battles throughout the country.

Dear Judge Kaplan…
Two additional pieces of correspondence were submitted to Judge Lewis Kaplan by the legal representatives in the defamation lawsuit filed by E Jean Carroll against Donald Trump, after a chaotic week in the courtroom.
In a separate correspondence, Ms. Habba claims that Ms. Carroll failed to adequately address the defamation caused by her client.
The main point of this statement is that the accuser, Ms. Carroll, is at fault for her own defamation because she chose to publicly accuse the former president, which made her vulnerable to online threats and harassment.
Ms Habba stated that Mr Trump’s words did not directly cause any harm to Ms Carroll, but rather, the harm was caused by her own actions in initially accusing him.
Roberta Kaplan, the attorney representing Ms. Carroll, wrote a letter to Judge Kaplan stating that Ms. Habba’s interpretation of the law is incorrect. She requests that the judge prohibit Ms. Habba from making any arguments to the jury during summation that imply or state that Ms. Carroll was legally obligated to lessen the damages caused by Mr. Trump’s defamatory statements in June 2019.
The court case will continue on Monday at 9:30am. According to NBC News, there is a possibility that Mr. Trump will be present and intends to give testimony. He had previously stated that he would be staying in New Hampshire for the primary.
Stay tuned.
172 Republican legislators urge Supreme Court to maintain Trump’s eligibility for 2024 elections.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who previously described the events of January 6 as a “violent insurrection,” has joined Thursday’s brief with other members of Congress. During Mr. Trump’s impeachment for inciting the attack on the US Capitol, McConnell stated on the Senate floor that there is no doubt Trump was responsible for inciting the events of that day and is morally and practically responsible for the mob that attacked Congress in his name.
He was one of 42 Republicans in the Senate who expressed their belief that it is Congress, not the courts, who should make the decision on disqualifying a candidate.
Alex Woodward reports:
Alina Habba is once again requesting a new trial in the defamation case filed against her by a writer accused of sexual abuse.
The attorney representing Donald Trump has once again requested a mistrial in a defamation case in New York. The case involves allegations made by an advice columnist who accused Trump of sexual abuse in the 1990s. The lawyer argues that the columnist’s civil case has been compromised due to her deleting emails from individuals who threatened her with harm.
Attorney Alina Habba informed a judge through a written letter that the trial of writer E. Jean Carroll was compromised when Habba prompted Carroll to reveal that she had erased an undisclosed amount of social media messages containing death threats.
The individual stated that Carroll did not make an effort to protect important evidence. In reality, she did something even worse – she intentionally deleted evidence that she is now using to support her claim for damages.
When Habba initially requested a mistrial while Trump was seated next to her during Carroll’s testimony on Wednesday, Judge Lewis A. Kaplan denied the request without providing a reason.
While the trial in New York continues, Donald Trump is present at the funeral of Melania’s mother.
Donald Trump took a break from his legal troubles to support his wife Melania at her mother’s funeral in Florida. The ex-president joined his former first lady at a nearby church near their Mar-a-Lago property to honor Amalija Knavs. Their 18-year-old son Baron also attended, along with other members of the Trump family. The 77-year-old leader of the Republican party is currently facing a defamation lawsuit from E. Jean Carroll. His lawyer Alina Habba tried to pause the trial in Manhattan while he attended the funeral, but the judge denied the request since his presence is not necessary for the proceedings to continue.
