As the January transfer window progresses, Arsenal may prove to be one of the most intriguing clubs, as Mikel Arteta’s team searches for several important new players.
In recent matches, their performance has caused them to drop down the rankings. However, as no other team has taken a significant lead, the London club is still in contention for the championship.
The primary target for them may be a reliable scorer, as Gabriel Jesus has lacked consistency and Eddie Nketiah has yet to secure a consistent starting position.
These are the most recent transfer speculation surrounding Arsenal.
Ivan Toney
Toney, who has been a desired player for the club for a while, will soon be back on the field for Brentford after completing his eight-month suspension for betting. The forward has a goal-scoring rate of one per every two games in the Premier League and has stated his interest in challenging himself at a “top club”.
It is unlikely that Brentford would want the striker to depart without a significant transfer fee. According to The Independent’s Miguel Delaney, Toney has been given a price tag of £100m.
Karim Benzema
Veteran French striker Benzema might be a possible option as an alternative. The 36-year-old is being offered to some top European clubs having joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad last summer, with the ex-Real Madrid man also linked with Chelsea.
Xavi Simons
According to reports, Arsenal is currently at the forefront in the pursuit of Xavi Simons, a promising Dutch player from PSG who has been on loan at RB Leipzig this year. The German publication BILD states that the 20-year-old is also being pursued by Bayern Munich, and there have been previous rumors linking Simons to Manchester United.
Bruno Guimaraes
Mikel Arteta is looking to add a new midfielder to his team in hopes of creating a championship-winning squad. While it is unlikely that Newcastle will let go of Bruno Guimaraes, there have been numerous reports of their interest in the Brazilian player.
Cedric Soares
Regarding departures, it appears that full-back Soares is headed to Besiktas, and there is also a possibility that Mohamed Elneny may depart from Arsenal. In addition, the club is anticipated to officially announce the finalization of a permanent transfer for David Raya in the near future. Raya initially joined on loan from Brentford but has now become Arteta’s preferred goalkeeper over Aaron Ramsdale.
