Updates on the 2024 presidential election: Cancellation of GOP debate in New Hampshire.

Following a decisive victory in the Iowa caucus, Donald Trump speaks to his supporters.

ABC News has cancelled the Republican primary debate in New Hampshire scheduled for Thursday night. This decision was made after Nikki Haley stated that she would only participate if Donald Trump also participated and faced his opponents on the stage.

Following the Iowa caucuses, Ms Haley posted on X that Mr Trump had avoided all of the GOP debates and has no more excuses to hide.

She stated that her next debate would be either with Donald Trump or Joe Biden and she is eager for it.

On Monday evening, Mr. Trump achieved a resounding win in the 2024 Iowa caucuses, garnering an estimated 51% of the Republican vote.

Ms Haley finished in third place behind Mr DeSantis, but both candidates have pledged to continue campaigning in the New Hampshire primary.

Vivek Ramaswamy withdrew from the competition and publicly supported Mr. Trump after only receiving a little under eight percent of the total votes.

Asa Hutchinson withdrew on Tuesday due to not meeting the necessary requirements to participate in recent debates.

On Tuesday night, Mr Ramaswamy then joined the former president on stage at a rally in New Hampshire, where they teased the possibility that he tapped to be his running mate.

DeSantis was angered when Trump was declared the projected winner of the Iowa caucus before many people had even voted.

The campaign of Ron DeSantis claimed that the media was interfering in the election by declaring Donald Trump the victor of the Iowa caucuses while voting was still ongoing on Monday evening.

The Associated Press and other news outlets declared Mr. Trump the winner of the initial competition in the Republican primary race only half an hour after voting commenced, with more than 50% of the votes.

As of the time of authoring this, Mr. DeSantis was in second place with approximately 20 percent, while Nikki Haley was trailing closely in third.

The campaign’s communications director, Andrew Romeo, expressed strong disapproval of the media’s involvement in election interference by announcing the outcome of the race before thousands of Iowans had the opportunity to cast their votes.

Haley has stated that she will only engage in debates if they involve either Trump or Biden.

“I am disappointed to say that Donald Trump has avoided participating in all five of the debates during this campaign,” stated Ms Haley on Tuesday. “He can no longer find a way to escape. My next debate will be with either Donald Trump or Joe Biden, and I am eager for the opportunity.”

The previous governor of South Carolina made a statement following her third place finish at the Iowa caucuses, coming in behind Mr. Trump and Florida governor Ron DeSantis.

After the caucuses, Ms. Haley declared, “I can confidently declare that Iowa has narrowed the Republican primary to a two-way competition.”

Ms Haley and Mr DeSantis participated in a debate last week, but their ratings on CNN were overshadowed by Mr Trump’s appearance on a Fox News town hall at the same time.

Ramaswamy drops out

“I regret to inform that we were unable to provide the intended surprise tonight … at this time, we will be halting our presidential campaign,” he announced to his followers in Iowa on Monday evening.

“He stated that there is no feasible route for him to become the future president without certain undesirable events occurring in our nation.”

Trump’s false claims about the election are gaining traction, and his fellow Republicans are not standing up to challenge them.

The followers of Donald Trump persist in embracing his false account that the 2020 election was fraudulently taken from him, with almost 70 percent of his Iowa caucus voters mistakenly believing that President Joe Biden’s victory was illegitimate.

According to entrance polls from last night’s caucuses, over two-thirds of Iowa caucus attendees expressed doubt about whether President Biden was legitimately elected to the presidency in 2020.

69% of Iowa caucus attendees who voted for Mr. Trump believe that he was legitimately elected, while only 11% of his supporters in Iowa share this belief.

Haley’s momentum is dampened by her third place finish in the cold Iowa caucus.

However, she ultimately placed third at the end of the night, while maintaining that even though Mr. DeSantis had achieved a partial victory, it was now a contest between only two candidates.

She is currently traveling to New Hampshire with increased support from her polls. However, her momentum has been hindered, to some extent, by the absence of a result tonight.

Ms. Haley finished her campaign for the state with a speech at a Marriott in Des Moines that also served as two caucus precincts. However, she did not win either of them, as Ron DeSantis nearly pulled off an upset in one. Despite this, in her closing remarks at her campaign’s caucus-night watch party, the former ambassador and governor portrayed herself as a candidate on the rise, heading to a favorable location with momentum.

It is uncertain if any of that information is accurate, according to John Bowden’s report from Clive, Iowa.

Biden has raised a significant amount of money through fundraising efforts.

According to Politico, the campaign announced on Monday that Mr Biden is currently in a better position than the Obama campaign was at this point, but still trailing behind former President Donald Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign.

In the final quarter of 2019, Mr. Trump and the Republican National Committee raised over $154 million. In comparison, during the last quarter of 2011 when former President Barack Obama was seeking re-election, his campaign and the DNC raised $68 million.

During the third quarter of the previous year, Mr. Biden and committees linked to his re-election campaign raised $71 million. The Biden campaign announced on Monday that they currently have $117 million in available funds.

Nigel Farage claims that the state of American democracy is in better condition than that of Britain.

“It’s incredible to witness the passion for democracy in America, especially in contrast to our own country. It’s truly remarkable that so many people will gather at 7 PM to cast their votes, whether it be for Trump, Haley, Ramaswamy, or another candidate. It’s an exhilarating experience to be a part of,” he stated.

Another side to the enthusiasm Mr Farage, 59, is speaking about is that the strong feelings in US politics at times turn into real-world violence, as seen three years ago during the Capitol riot.
