Barrow is advocating for permanent bans following an alleged incident of racial discrimination during their victory over Morecambe on Tuesday.
The game was decided by Dom Telford’s goal in the first half, but the major problem happened outside of the game and both teams discussed it after the game ended.
Barrow’s website has released a statement acknowledging an accusation of racist behavior towards a member of their staff during the League Two match at The So Legal Stadium on Tuesday evening.
We want to emphasize that our club strongly condemns any type of discrimination and will not hesitate to take severe measures, such as issuing lifetime bans, for those who are found guilty of racism.
“We are currently conducting a comprehensive inquiry and ask any supporters who may have witnessed any discriminatory behavior to come forward. We extend our gratitude to the stewards of Barrow AFC and the local police for their prompt response in identifying the individual.”
Morecambe stated: “We have knowledge of an occurrence that occurred during tonight’s game against Barrow.”
“At this time, the club will refrain from making any additional statements until the incident has been fully clarified and comprehended. Morecambe FC condemns all types of discrimination.”
The PA news agency has contacted Cumbria Police for comment.
