Police have charged a 49-year-old man following reports of gunfire at three separate locations in Liverpool, Merseyside.
Leslie Garrett, residing on Ternhall Road in Liverpool, has been charged by Merseyside Police with one offense of having a firearm that endangers life, two offenses of possessing a firearm with the intent to create fear of violence, and one offense of attempted robbery.
On Wednesday evening, gunshots were reported at a newsagents. Incidents also occurred outside a cinema and a nearby house. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Garrett is also accused of possessing ammunition without a certificate. He is scheduled to appear in Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
Authorities were summoned to the News and Booze establishment, also referred to as Sangha newsagents in the area, following reports of a male individual entering the premises around 8 in the evening. The man allegedly made threats towards the store employee and demanded money, then proceeded to discharge a firearm before departing the store without obtaining any cash.
Police were alerted to a second incident of shots being fired at Showcase Cinemas at 8:50pm. This occurred after a man entered the premises with a firearm and allegedly threatened two employees. Additional reports were made to the police about gunshots being heard at a property around 10:20pm.
Parents and children who were at the screening of the new movie Wonka had to stay in a secure location for 45 minutes before being led to their vehicles by law enforcement in small groups.
According to a statement from Merseyside Police, a man has been charged with firearms violations in connection with incidents that occurred on Wednesday, December 3rd in Croxteth and Norris Green.
“Leslie Garrett, 49, from Ternhall Road, Fazakerley, from has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life; two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence; attempt robbery and possession of ammunition without a certificate.”
