Unfortunately, Dominik Szoboszlai will be absent for Liverpool’s upcoming match against Arsenal in the FA Cup, as well as the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Fulham.
However, Liverpool is still uncertain about the severity of the Hungarian captain’s hamstring injury and they are hoping that he will not have to sit out for an extended period of time.
Unfortunately, Szoboszlai sustained an injury during the victory against Newcastle on New Year’s Day. This is a difficult time for Liverpool as they are already missing Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajectic due to injuries, and Wataru Endo is currently participating in the Asian Cup.
The manager, Jurgen Klopp, stated that the injury is confirmed to be a muscle strain in the hamstring. The duration of recovery is uncertain and will need to be evaluated. Despite this, the player, Dom, has a positive attitude and minimal pain. He will not be able to play on Sunday or Wednesday, and his return after that is still uncertain.
Possible reworded text: On Sunday at the Emirates Stadium, 21-year-old left-back Owen Beck may have the opportunity to play for Liverpool for the first time since 2021.
Liverpool brought him back from a productive loan period at Dundee and, due to injuries to Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, the Welsh Under-21 player may be able to serve as backup for Joe Gomez.
“In Dundee, everything was going well and he showed significant progress,” Klopp stated. “However, the situation here is evident – we have lost two of our left-backs, so it makes sense to recall a player we admire and who is currently free to join us.”
Klopp made a playful comment expressing his desire for Egypt and Japan to be eliminated early in the African Cup of Nations and Asian Cup, respectively. This would result in the return of Mohamed Salah and Endo to Anfield sooner. However, he also stated that Liverpool can manage without their absence.
“Although I wished you good luck, it would not be honest of me,” he grinned. “Personally, I wouldn’t mind if they were eliminated in the group stage, but that’s unlikely. They could even end up winning it all. So I simply said ‘good luck and stay healthy’. We will face the challenge head on and I have faith that we will overcome it.”
