Tune in to a live broadcast of a volcano in southwest Iceland that has been erupting since Wednesday, December 20, following several weeks of heightened seismic activity.
The volcanic activity started on Monday in an area a few kilometers away from Grindavik. The town, which has a population of almost 4,000 people, had been evacuated last month.
The Blue Lagoon geothermal spa in the vicinity was also shut down by authorities.
The airport near Reykjavik, Keflavik International Airport, remained operational.
According to a statement by the government, the eruption poses no danger to human life.
The live stream displays liquid rock erupting from cracks in the earth’s surface, with vibrant yellow and orange hues standing out against the dark sky.
On Tuesday night, three out of five vents remained operational following the eruption that started the previous evening in the Reykjanes peninsula.
The Icelandic Met Office has cautioned that additional vents may open while the eruption persists.
