The LaLiga game between Granada and Athletic Bilbao was called off due to the passing of a fan at Estadio Nuevo los Carmenes. Meanwhile, Girona reclaimed their position at the top of the standings with an impressive 4-2 victory against local rivals Barcelona.
Inaki Williams scored a goal for Bilbao in the beginning of the game. However, play was halted after approximately 15 minutes due to an issue in the stands that was brought to the attention of officials.
Once the individual began receiving continuous medical care, the athletes were ultimately removed from the playing field.
The death of the supporter was later confirmed by LaLiga and the match will be postponed.
Granada released a statement expressing their heartfelt sympathies to the family, friends, and the entire Granada community.
After conversations between the teams and the governing authorities, it was agreed that the game would be postponed until Monday and resume from the 17th minute.
The league has announced that, upon request from LALIGA, the RFEF competition judge has made a ruling stating that the Granada-Athletic game, which was postponed today following the death of a fan, will resume tomorrow (December 11th) at 9pm. The match will pick up from the 17th minute.
Real Madrid was unable to secure a win against Real Betis on Saturday, giving Girona the chance to surprise rivals Barca at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.
Artem Dovbyk scored first for Michel’s well-prepared team, but Robert Lewandowski quickly equalized with a header.
Miguel Gutierrez, the left-back for the visiting team, scored to regain the lead before the first half ended. The substitute, Valery, also contributed a third goal towards the end of the game.

In the Serie A match, Romelu Lukaku netted an initial goal but was subsequently expelled, while Roma struggled to a 1-1 tie against Fiorentina and ended the game with only nine players on the field.
Lukaku, a forward from Belgium, scored the first goal for Jose Mourinho’s team after five minutes. However, the home team was left with one less player on the field in the 61st minute when wing-back Nicola Zalewski received a second yellow card.
Martinez Quarta scored an equalizing goal, while Lukaku received a direct red card for a rough tackle on Christian Kouame.
Bologna currently occupies the fifth spot in the standings, tied with Roma at 25 points. This is thanks to Joshua Zirkzee’s two goals in their 2-1 victory against Salernitana.
Monza secured a 1-0 victory over Genoa thanks to a last-minute goal by Dany Mota, while Frosinone and Torino ended their match in a scoreless tie.
Bayer Leverkusen, the top team in the Bundesliga, ended up with a 1-1 tie against Stuttgart, who currently holds the third spot in the standings.
Leverkusen sought to capitalize on Bayern Munich’s 5-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, but were instead trailing when Chris Fuhrich scored for Stuttgart shortly before halftime.
Despite Florian Wirtz equalizing for the visitors shortly after halftime, Leverkusen, who have yet to lose in any competition this season, were unable to secure a victory. They are now four points ahead of Bayern, but have played one more match.
Cologne and Mainz played to a scoreless tie in Sunday’s sole remaining match.
The pressure remained high in Ligue 1 as Nice scored a late goal by Jeremie Boga to secure a 2-1 victory at the Allianz Riviera. This win moved them back up to second place, just four points behind league leaders Paris St Germain.
Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette scored three goals, securing a hat-trick, in a 3-0 victory against Toulouse, lifting his team’s chances of avoiding relegation.
In the second half, Jeremy Le Douaron scored a goal that led Brest to a 1-0 victory over Metz. Strasbourg also secured a 2-1 win against Le Harve with a late goal from Abakar Sylla. The match between Clermont and Lille ended in a scoreless draw.
On Sunday, Marseille rose to sixth place with a 4-2 victory against Lorient. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored two goals in the first half and Jonathan Clauss received a red card towards the end of the game.
