Witness Rishi Sunak and Sir Keir Starmer engage in a showdown during Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday (December 6th), as the Conservative party deals with opposition over the Rwanda treaty.
According to reports, Mr Sunak has rejected the idea of withdrawing from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), despite facing opposition from the conservative party’s right wing, which puts his alternative legislation for Rwanda in jeopardy.
Suella Braverman, who was recently dismissed by Mr Sunak from her position as home secretary, will be making a statement in the House of Commons to challenge the Prime Minister’s immigration policies. She is considered to be a prominent right-wing figure.
This afternoon, it is anticipated that Ms. Braverman will formally announce her resignation in the Commons, after her contentious departure last month. She may advocate for an exemption from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) or urge Mr. Sunak to demonstrate his readiness to withdraw from the convention.
