Pep Guardiola has made a gesture to a Manchester City supporters’ group planning to unfurl a banner at their Premier League clash with Fulham on Saturday, 5 October, urging the 53-year-old to stay on as manager.
More than £1,000 was raised in 24 hours to create the banner by the 1894 Group, who organise flag and banner displays at Etihad Stadium.
“They have to bring me the bill to pay for the banner,” Guardiola told a press conference ahead of the clash.
“I don’t want them to spend money for that reason but, what can I say? Thank you so much.”
It comes as speculation mounts over whether the Catalan will extend his contract beyond the current campaign.
