The UNFP, France’s players union, is calling for a revamp of the football schedule following numerous players sustaining severe injuries.
During a training session with the French national team, Real Madrid’s midfielder Eduardo Camavinga sustained an injury to his knee ligament. Additionally, his club teammate Aurelien Tchouameni suffered a stress fracture in his left foot during their victory against Barcelona in the previous month.
Warren Zaire-Emery, a midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain, will be sidelined for the remainder of the year due to an ankle injury sustained during his debut with the Les Bleus.
The UNFP stated on Wednesday evening that they were correct and had knowledge of the situation. They reiterated their stance multiple times and continued to do so.
Although it is expected for senior executives to hear us out, it is uncommon for them to truly listen to us, particularly when the matters at hand extend beyond the scope of our expertise.
The UNFP stated that it was necessary to implement a comprehensive overhaul of the calendar.
“The period following the World Cup has proven those who advocate for a restructuring of the fixture list to be correct. However, these are just the initial indications of a larger crisis that will ultimately harm the overall quality of the sport,” the statement stated.
