A person from Britain is stuck far away from their country in a hospital after being carried away by an unexpected wave – and they do not have insurance for travel.
Charline Edwards, a 24-year-old resident of Sutton Coldfield, experienced extreme discomfort when she was pulled down by the waves while enjoying a day at the beach with her boyfriend in Cape Verde.
Due to a nerve injury in her spine, she no longer has sensation in her arms or hands. Her partner, Callum Aston, stated that Ms Edwards will need to be transported to a hospital in the UK for a complete evaluation of her injuries.
Mr. Aston’s mother has started a crowdfunding campaign to help bring her home from the “abysmal” medical facility where she is currently staying. The estimated cost for this is around £40,000. The reason for this situation is that they were both young and decided to take a last-minute holiday when a colleague couldn’t go. Unfortunately, they forgot to purchase holiday insurance and are now feeling scared and overwhelmed.
According to Mr. Aston, the hospital expenses have exceeded £10,000.

According to BirminghamLive, he stated that the duo was in slightly rough water, but there were green flags indicating that the area was suitable for swimming.
Charline was peacefully floating on her back in waist-deep water when suddenly a massive wave crashed down on her.
“After the wave finally subsided, I stood up and realized she was no longer in sight. She had been pulled back out to sea, approximately 20 yards away from where I was, before I could locate her.”
He had to struggle against the current in order to bring Ms Edwards back to shore, while a couple assisted Mr Aston in carrying her.
After approximately five minutes, the lifeguards arrived, but by then, she had lost all feeling and movement in her neck and body. Despite this, the lifeguards attempted to pull her up the beach by her arms and legs. I advised them against it, as she had injured her back and it could worsen the injury.
“I pleaded for assistance, requesting that they call an ambulance. It took them upwards of 30 minutes to make the call, and it was over two hours before paramedics arrived at the beach.”
Mr. Aston alleges that due to a lack of available staff, he was required to physically assist Ms. Edwards in and out of a CT scanner. He also alleges that doctors deliberately kicked her in order to gauge her level of pain.
He reported to BirminghamLive that for two days, the doctors have refused to change the sheets and as a result, she has been forced to stay in her own urine. Throughout his entire time there, he has been taking care of her by feeding, washing, clothing, and changing her, as well as making sure she has painkillers, without any assistance from the doctors.
